Time and Pace Cuts for Every NYRR Corral in Every Distance

According to New York Road Runners' website,  "Corral assignments for weekly races will be based on the best pace as calculated by NYRR, and each corral will have a minimum best pace called a pace cut. " Pace of different race distances are converted to 10K pace using factors derived from Pete Riegel's Model t2 = t1 * (d2 / d1)^1.06  where t1 equals the initial time, d1 equals the initial distance, d2 equals the new distance being calculated for, and t2 equals the predicted time for the new distance. ^means exponent.

New York City Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon and NYC Half Marathon have different pace cuts because of their larger field sizes.

Under NYRR's calculation system, t2 is 10K finish time, t1 is the finish time for the predicted race distance, d2 is 10K and d1 is the new race distance that needs conversion. Say d1 is 5K,  then, t1 = t2/(10K/5K) ^ 1.06 = t2/2.08493. Somehow, NYRR rounds this up to 2.09, which make it marginally harder to make the time cut by 2-5 seconds for each corral.




Based on this rounded 2 decimal digit factor, the following chart is the time cuts for every NYRR corral in every race distance that NYRR currently offers.
*Because marathon factor (denominator) was rounded UP, this results in marathon time cut for each corral to be 2-4 minutes faster.
